Ella Mae Tyler-Miller departed this life January 2, 2013. She leaves to mourn four daughters; Wretha A. Hudson of Montgomery, Alabama, Evelyn Sampson, Jacqulan Lewis (John A. Lewis) and Brenda J. Johnson (Moses Johnson) all of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Erica D. Harris, Gregory W. Carraway, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Reginyl L. Dorsey of Knoxville, Tennessee, Callista M. Sampson and Trishawn L. Lewis of Houston, Texas; a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Sister Miller was preceded in death by her son Hudell Benford, Jr. in 1964 and her daughter Shirley A. Holland in 2009.

Sister Miller was the “Baby” of eight children born to the union of James E. and Eugina Shankel of Shankelville, Texas.

Sister Miller served as Pastor, musician, Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also dorm mother to some of the college kids at Bay Ridge Christian College in Kindleton, Texas. She moved to Wharton, Texas where she was under the watchful eye of Pastors Banks, Sr. and Jr. until she moved to Houston and united with her home congregation; Acreage Home Church of God.

Sister Miller wrote a column, “What the Bible Says” for the Wharton Journal Spectator. Her last article will be published January 5-26, 2013.

Farewell Sister Miller, take your rest. You fought a good fight, you finished your course, you kept the faith, a crown of life awaits you.
